Grounds for Change was founded in 2003 by two of the most thoughtful people we know, Kelsey & Stacy Marshall. Coffee lovers who strive to make a difference to the planet, they started by building a garden shed in their driveway, roasting every small batch with care and focus. Although they have certainly outgrown the shed, they have not outgrown their values; they still very much pay careful and considered attention to the social, environmental and financial impacts they make. Every single bean they roast is fair trade certified, organic certified and carbon-free certified, which means the possibility of a real livelihood for coffee growers, a breath of fresh air for the planet and zero net carbon emissions from crop to cup. Additionally, they donate well over 1% of their total sales to non-profit environmental organizations.
After 18 years with the same branding, they came to Distill to help give it a refresh, while keeping the integrity not only of their loyal fan base, but also their sustainable planet-friendly values in mind.
